Career Profile:

As a decorated Combat Veteran, I have received an extensive amount of training and experience in managerial, medical, and leadership positions throughout my military career.  I have been able to successfully take those skills and utilize them in civilian managerial capacities while serving on Active Duty and as a Guardsman and Reservist.  Now that I have completed my military obligations, I am pursuing a challenging civilian career that will best utilize this varied training and experience.



Civilian Experience:


2008 - 2019

Temp with AEP thru Express Professional Staffing at John Amos Power Plant in Winfield, WV

After retiring from the military, I have sought employment with AEP, which has not hired me directly.  I am currently a temp with AEP thru Express Professionals Staffing and have been responsible for a variety of duties at the power plant.

  • Environmental disaster emergency containment

  • Fuel barge unloading

  • Hazardous waste handling

  • Driving shuttle into restricted areas

  • Various facility maintenance

  • Timekeeping and other computer-based applications

  • Scale Master

  • ID cards

            Currently responsible for maintenance of all plant vehicles


1996 - 2005

Area Training Manager/Store Manager with Clarks Companies North America’s Retail Division in WV, TN, OH, KY, VA, GA, and IN.

I began as an Assistant Store Manager and was promoted to Store Sales Manager within one month.  Over the next 3 years, I was relocated to various locations due to my ability to troubleshoot and increase sales production, after which I was promoted to Area Training Manager for 7 years before returning to active duty for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

  • Supervised 7 retail stores managing staffing, budget control, inventory control, merchandising, purchasing, cash disbursements, product placement and presentation, visual displays, sales productivity as well as conducting financial and inventory audits

  • Conducted motivational and continuing education for area leadership

  • Trained all new hires in area

  • Numerous quality awards and accomplishments including Store Manager of the Year & keeping shrinkage below .01%


1992 – 2004

Business Owner – Amway Distributor

After serving active duty in Fuerth, Germany; I returned to the States and began an Amway distributorship that grew to include 58 commissioned sales associates over a 4-year period.

  • Managed and developed operating budget

  • Conducted business seminars, product demonstrations and trade shows

  • Designed internet information site

  • Maintained bookkeeping, accounts receivable, marketing and product delivery

  • Recruited and trained commissioned sales associates



Military Experience:


2008 - 2011

W.V. State Mobilization NCO/NET DET NCOIC/Interim FIRO based in Charleston, W.V.

This position required coordination of funding, training, physicals and transportation of mobilized National Guardsmen.  I was also responsible for communicating with top WV officials and developing procedural material.

  • Authored “Standard Operating Procedure for Mobilization for the WV Army National Guard” to create a state-wide reference for individual National Guard mobilizations

  • Acquired and managed National Guard Bureau funds for equipment training

  • Coordinated War on Terror troop mobilizations, financial packets, physicals, equipment training, ground and air transportation

  • Acted as Mobilization Station liaison to activated soldiers

  • Filed weekly status reports to W.V. Governor on mobilized WV National Guardsmen

  • Composed memorandums to State General and Chief of Staff for individual soldier mobilizations

  • AS NET DET NCOIC/Interim FIRO I was responsible for acquiring funding from the Pentagon for training on new equipment and coordinating delivery and receiving of equipment.


2009 - 2011

Battalion Medical Section Chief/Public Affairs Officer/Safety Officer/Moral Welfare Officer based in Fairmont, W.V.

As Medical Section Chief, I was responsible for six military ambulance crews and two mobile medical treatment facilities while simultaneously being appointed by the command to be the Public Affairs Officer, Safety Officer and Moral Welfare Officer.

  • Managed the medical supply budget for ambulatory crews and mobile medical facilities

  • Coordinated purchasing and warehousing of medical supplies, including pharmaceuticals and hazardous materials

  • Conducted annual medical (Combat Lifesaver - first responder) training for 300+ personnel and continuing medical education of medical personnel.

  • Project development and implementation

  • Triaged, treated and evacuated patients

  • Supervised media relations through submission of articles to various media outlets and interviews

  • Conducted Public Affairs briefings and training as well as instructing company officers and enlisted how, and what to say during a media interview.

  • Authored Press Releases

  • Conducted training and gave command briefings on information sensitivity.

  • Identify Safety Requirements and ensured implementation of Safety Standards and guidelines.

  • Conducted required Annual Safety Training and briefings.

  • Organize Moral Welfare Activities and evaluate the Moral of Troops for Suicide Prevention and work productivity.

  • Conducted Training on Suicide Prevention.


2004 - 2009

Special Forces Medical Sergeant/Unit Historian/Civil Affairs NCOIC based in Kenova, W.V. and Iraq

During combat assignment in Operation Iraqi Freedom I conducted classified missions, medically treated civilians and soldiers, trained friendly foreign military, developed Civil Affairs missions, and documented classified missions as the Unit Historian.

  • Medically treated foreign nationals and soldiers in hostile environments

  • Trained friendly foreign military personnel in combat operations

  • Conducted classified secret ground and air assaults on terrorist organizations and hostage repatriation missions

  • Developed and conducted Civil Affairs missions to provide necessities to friendly foreign communities

  • Documented classified missions utilizing video, photography and written accounts as Unit Historian


1986 - 1992

Infantry Medic/Battalion Medical Supply NCO based in Ft. Riley, KS and Fuerth, Germany

  • Medically responsible for triage and emergency treatment

  • Maintained personnel medical records, equipment, vehicles

  • Managed Battalion’s medical supply budget

  • Conducted purchasing, warehousing, and disposal of medical equipment, supplies and medications.
